Pet Talk – Guinea Pigs

Here on Pet Talk I will tell you all about my little critters. These are my Guinea Pigs.

Toby is the first Guinea Pig I had ever gotten. He is a brave, outgoing, dominant Male and a terrific daddy. When we first bought Toby the lady told us he was female, so we named him Ginger. Then later on when we adopted Taylor, the mommy “Ginger” decided he was determined to show us he was male, (at this point we did not yet know how to sex guinea pigs) few months later we found out Taylor was pregnant… I was in total confusion and decided to learn how to sex guinea pigs. After that I knew “Ginger” would become Toby. Toby lived on our farm for almost 6 years.

Taylor is a sweet, loving, and caring momma piggy. She loves every animal and every human she meets. She was our rescue when she was a little over a year old.

She is the mommy of Swan and Grizzly.

Pumpkin and Spice are twin brothers who have been together all their lives. They were born May, 24, 2019. They are full size. Pumpkin loves to run, run, run! He is full of vigor (most males are more energetic than females). Spice is a little more likely to be found snuggling in a lap as he doesn’t have to be on the go every second.

Piggies have distinct different personalities. Each even has their own food likes and dislikes, just like people. They need lots of time, especially if they are solo. They will get sad when they don’t get enough social time with another piggie or their humans. Grizzly, one of our females, loves to socialize with dogs. She loved our Sheba, an Aussie Mix!

Guinea Pigs grow from small like a baby chick size (right pic) to adult size (left pic) in about 4 months. Grizzly is still her fat and sweet self. She has always been a snuggle-bug and still finds human hands and laps to be her favorite spot.

Then there’s little Pooka was born 2/26/22 and is a sweet boy with white and brown marks. He loves to cuddle, just like Taylor! He almost looks like Taylor, too! Taylor is the oldest (at least 6 years old) on the farm and Pooka is her grandbaby (2 weeks in pictures).

BB8 was born on 5/4/22 (May the 4th be with you, hence the Star Wars name) and is all orange/tan just like Toby was. He (yes, another boy) is currently the youngest on the farm. (pic coming when he slows down enough for a non-blurry picture to be taken!)

We rescue and rehome our Guinea Pigs. Some we raise. Sometimes people have contacted us to adopt an adult or older piggie to be friends with their solo piggie. They are social animals and it is easier for a solo adult to accept another adult than for a solo adult to accept a baby friend.

If you are interested in adopting one of our cute Guinea Pigs, please email us at TwoActsTwoSisters@gmail.com and tell us a little about yourself! We ask for a rehoming fee of $30/each or $50/pair and only deal locally in the Saint Augustine, Florida area. (Taylor and Grizzly are not available for adoption)

We have had several cute piggies call our farm home. Here are some of their pictures! (Or search “Guinea Pig” on this blog!)
