Fun with Bubbles
Timewarp Story from August 3, 2025
Laud is two. Louis, Lucas, and most of the girls have been trying to get Laud to say, “I am two” since August first. He keeps smiling and looking or giving us the sly giggle smile he has been perfecting as of late. It means, “not going to say what you want,” and usually is followed by “Dylan!” if Christina is trying to make him say “Christina” or snuggling and hiding his face if I’m trying to get him to say something he just annunciated perfectly.
Laud’s birthday is also the first Sunday following our gym’s final summer camp day. We have a week of after school prep and camp cleanup before the school year starts again.
Laud’s birthday also is the week we bought our property.
On Saturday, when we celebrated Laud’s birthday, my goal was to be in the moment for Laud. We had lots of fun! Grandma Joanne brought some goodies. I had the morning off, so Kimberly drove Jillian and Jaquline to gym for practice. Christina left early and brought them home.

We set up the little bouncy for Laud (It still worked!! 9th year going strong!). Louis bought it for Lucas and the boys when Lucas was one year old. Laud ran around whacking his “ball balls” (new white plastic softball) with the big red plastic bat – and the yellow tee stand. Louis kept resetting the tee stand to show Laud how to use it. Laud loves to take things apart and try to put them back together.
I ended up playing skeeball with said white balls up the slide ramp on the bouncy trying to smack Lucas or gently get the ball to Laud’s excited hands. That was so much fun! I used to do the same skeeball game with Lucas, Isacc, and JJ. It brought back memories. Thank you, Jesus, for memories!
It was also the day Chrstina came to move a bunch of her stuff to her new apartment. What was that a few months back about being able to have both happiness and sadness in the same time? I was happy for her but sad to see her go. Laud is now two years old. We played scrabble tournaments with Grandma Joanne, Laud literally cried and tried to get away from his cake (a first in my life), ate fruit and sandwiches, and spent the day with family – Grandmas (Grandma Tina came by the give Laud his gifts and take Jillian off to a camping weekend with Anastasia), Dylan and Evan came to help Christina and Lucas swiped Evan to play video games. I love my little home with lots of love and room for all the fun we can sardine inside. Thank you, Jesus, for air conditioning! I love outside but most of my family doesn’t like 100 degree heat.
I’m thankful for my growing family! Thank you, Jesus, for the closeness of family! Thank you for balls to make up games with. Thank you for happy smiles and joyous laughter! Thank you for scrabble without scores and apples to apples with crafty teenagers (yes, Rebeccah is a teenager for a few more months). Thank you, Jesus, for the privilege of spending my life with these amazing people you’ve given me as family! I am so humbled as I watch them grow, their friends become family, and see the wonderful young women they are and are becoming. Thank you for the journey you have led me on. Thank you, Jesus, that I picked moving “one last time” to come to Saint Augustine and plant my roots here. Thank you for love!
